People know that they can rely on the Red Cross to be there when they need us most. In tern, we depend on people like you, to help us provide the life saving services our community members depend on. Red Cross Disaster Volunteers come from all walks of life and all segments of the community. The one thing they have in common is the willingness to serve and the desire to help those in need.
Get Involved!
There are many ways that you can get involved locally or nationally:
-
Disaster Action Teams (DAT)- groups of trained volunteers whom serve on teams to respond in the event of a local disaster and help meet the immediate disaster-related needs of victims and responders. They attend monthly team meetings and trainings.
-
DSHR National- trained volunteers whom deploy to large disasters throughout the country for 2-3 week assignements.
-
Disaster Reserves- individuals, community organizations, and buisnesses who are trained in aspects of disaster relief such as : sheltering, logistics, public affairs, mental health, health services, and many other fields. These groups do not participate in the daily disaster responces but play a crucial role in assuring that New Hampshire is prepared to respond to a large scale event.
-
Program Support Services- volunteers who may not be interested in responding personally to a disater but can still provide equally valuable support services. These administrative tasks can be performed at the chapter or off site on flexible schedules.
